Trusted Battle Hockey Member Reviews!
"There is no program out there like it! As a parent of two young athletes, I am impressed with Battle's commitment to player development! The owners Ryan and Jeff are highly knowledgeable, experienced and passionate about the game of hockey! They encourage, support and provide constructive feedback to players which can be applied in real game situations. They cover all aspects of the game, including skating technique, stickhandling, shooting, game strategy, and conditioning. My boys absolutely love going to Battle skates. I would recommend Battle hockey to any athlete looking to take their game to the next level!"

It is with much enthusiasm that I recommend Battle Hockey Inc. as a trusted skills instructor for youth hockey. As Director of Skills and Development with Port Stanley Minor Hockey Association, I had the pleasure to employ and oversee Battle Hockey’s day to day conduct on and off the ice for the 2022/2023 season.
New this year, PSMHA launched a skills survey to all parents for feedback. Battle Hockey’s professionalism towards parents and kids proved valuable as all feedback received from parents was positive and cheerful in nature. Upon personal observation, Battle Hockey provided a wide range of skills including but not limited to, edge work, speed and agility work, crossovers, stride work, balance and stability, body positioning, shooting, stick handling and game skills. Battle Hockey helped develop the kids in Port Stanley in a constructive and positive manner.
I trust Battle Hockey will go far in making our youth better hockey players and humble individuals.
Sincerely,
D.R., Director of Skill and Development, PSMHA
Our kids Axl (2014) and Ella (2011) have been skating with Battle Hockey regularly since March 2022 when we wanted to try something new. Since the first skate we have been hooked.
While there are other programs that offer their own benefits, there is nothing at all that compares to sessions led by Ryan and Jeff at Battle Hockey.
Skating, puck control, conditioning, competitiveness leaves kids feeling a real sense of accomplishment after a Battle skate. I have referred many friends to these sessions and I strongly feel it has benefited all aspects of their games.
Ryan/Jeff have always treated both kids very well and I’ve never left a practice being disappointed we just spent 2 hours there. The biggest compliment I could give is that we will keep returning for more.
My only complaint is that we didn’t start skating with Battle Hockey sooner!!

Battle Hockey ran successful skill development sessions for U9 up to U13 for Tillsonburg Minor Hockey. They are great with the kids and provide a variety of skills and drills to the kids and coaches. It was very helpful having different voices and knowledgeable on ice leaders that could demonstrate and articulate high level skating and stick handling drills that they are not used to seeing on a regular basis. Also great at communicating behind the scenes from an admin perspective and organized. Highly recommend!

My son has been participating in Battle Hockey’s development skates for almost two years. In these years, Jeff, Ryan and the other Battle Hockey coaches have developed my son to go from a kid who could barely skate backwards to a player who was able to make the A/AA team. My son has been involved with large- and small-group on-ice sessions that focused on everything from power skating to hockey IQ to shooting and puck handing, and he also participated in off-ice sessions such as synthetic ice shooting and puck handling and dryland training. Battle Hockey offers a diverse program!
Battle Hockey skill sessions are incredibly well organized! Even with a high number of players, the coaches can keep the sessions running smoothly and fast-paced. The coaches are able to cover many different skills during a single session, focusing on factors like proper technique, muscle memory, speed, and agility. The coaches utilize each part of the ice well in order to keep the kids moving the entire time. Drills are well-thought out and range from one focus to a combination of skills so that kids can understand how these skills apply during games. I often see my son utilize the skills he has learned at these sessions during games. Even with the high pace of the sessions, the coaches are still able to provide on-ice corrections. It is evident that the coaches spend a lot of time planning the drills and have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to power skating and hockey drills.
Another important aspect of Battle Hockey’s coaching style is how they are able to motivate players to try harder and keep them engaged throughout the sessions. My son thrives on the coaches’ feedback and encouragement, and he comes to each session wanting to perform at his best. He knows that a lot is expected from him and while the coaches push the kids hard on the ice, they do it in a way that builds their confidence and makes them want to practice even more to get better. My son comes off the ice feeling proud at how hard he worked each time. The coaches set the bar high and celebrate individual growth.
The Battle Hockey coaches are not only teaching my son how to be a better skater and hockey player, but they have also taught him discipline and resilience. They have given him confidence to not give up and to continue to work hard and improve even in challenging situations. These are skills that my son will use on and off the ice for the rest of his life. Battle Hockey has been instrumental in my son’s successes in the last two years and we will continue to skate with them as much as we can. Any skater, parent or league would be able to see the benefit of Battle Hockey development just after one skate!
